Most guests arrive through Los Cabos International Airport (SJD) in San José del Cabo. From there, it’s about a one-hour scenic drive to Los Barriles.
You can get to Tres Palapas by:
- Airport Pick-Up by Tres Palapas — Pre-arranged transportation directly from SJD to the resort.
- Private Shuttle — Private transfer services are available from the airport to Los Barriles.
- Rental Car — A good option if you want the flexibility to explore Los Barriles and the East Cape.

Most guests fly into Los Cabos International Airport (SJD) in San José del Cabo. It is the closest major airport to Tres Palapas and is about a one-hour drive to Los Barriles.

Both Mexican pesos and U.S. dollars are commonly accepted in Los Barriles, but having pesos on hand is recommended.

- Credit card transactions are generally processed in pesos, with your bank applying its exchange rate.
Pesos are especially useful for taxis, smaller shops, local restaurants, and tips.
Los Barriles is a small, easygoing town, and there are several convenient ways to get around.

Los Barriles is beautiful year-round, and the best time to visit really depends on the kind of Baja experience you’re looking for.
November – April

September and October fall within hurricane season in Baja California Sur. While many days can still be beautiful, tropical storms and hurricanes are possible during this time. If you’re planning a visit during these months, we recommend keeping an eye on the weather forecast and considering flexible travel plans.
For pickleball, many guests especially enjoy visiting from November through April, when temperatures are generally more comfortable for longer days on the court.

We also recommend checking the weather before you pack. Baja can be very warm, especially during the summer months, while winter evenings can be cooler.
The water in our on-site accommodations is filtered.
When you’re away from the resort, bottled or purified drinking water is the safest choice. At restaurants, ask for bottled or purified water rather than tap water.

Court Reservations

You’re welcome to bring your own gear, but you don’t need to bring everything with you.
Paddles
Paddles are available on-site, and our Pro Shop carries equipment for different levels of play. If you already have a favorite paddle, bring it along.
Balls
Balls are provided for organized open play, clinics, and events.
Shoes
Court shoes are recommended for comfort, support, and safety. If you don’t have pickleball-specific shoes, a supportive athletic court shoe is a good option.
Yes. Tres Palapas offers pickleball instruction for a range of skill levels.
Clinics
Skill-based clinics focus on areas such as fundamentals, strategy, footwork, and game development.

Yes. Tres Palapas welcomes visitors — you do not have to be staying on-site to come enjoy the resort.
